SpaceX makes spy satellites for the United States!
Elon Musk's SpaceX is building a network of hundreds of spy satellites under a classified contract with US intelligence agencies. Reuters reported this news citing five sources related to this program.
According to the news, this incident proves the deep relationship between entrepreneur Elon Musk's space company and the national security agencies of the United States.
The network is being developed by SpaceX's StarShield business unit under a $1.8 billion contract with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in 2021.
The plan shows the extent of SpaceX's involvement in US intelligence and military projects. At the same time, the Pentagon is investing heavily in low-Earth orbiting satellite systems to support ground forces.
Sources say the program, if successful, will significantly advance the ability of the US government and military to rapidly identify potential targets almost anywhere in the world.
